Poker strategy is in most cases based on several mathematical theorems. Poker theorems are reasoning abilities that allows you to decide on why a bet has to be made, why a raise has to be made, why a raise has to checked and so in. In fact there is poker theorems that help you reason out about why you will have to bluff indeed!
The first kind of poker theorem or a poker strategy was defined by David Sklansky where he said that as far as you are able to see what your opponent holds you are in the profitable side and as long as your opponent plays in a way that he would not if he knows your hand then again you are in the profitable side. Based on the above poker strategy definition you need to apply it this way, if your opponent is playing in a way to affect your play or in some way reducing your winning chances, then it means that he has made some calculations and odds about the kind of hand you hold. At such times you need to actually divert him with systematic bluffing in making him believe that you do not actually hold what he thinks you have! Contradictorily, sometimes your opponent may not be actually playing against you; it might be just that he is playing based on position of holding a strong hand. Either way, it means that your position in the table gets directly or indirectly exploited. Any player that causes some heat on you is your real opponent. Well, there are going to be silent killers in the group too! Reading abilities is one of the major requisite of being able to figure out poker strategy ideas. Reading abilities is lot more than extra sensory perception, in fact it has nothing to do with your ESP, but it has a lot to do with math skills, poker math to the point. May be there are rare ESP poker pros too. But the real essence of poker strategy is the poker mathematics. As long as your table is confused about what you hold you are in the better place. As long as the table responds the way in which you want them to, you are dominating the table. As long as you do not believe in luck a lot and base your play on skills you are in the better side. About 95 times out of 100 it is skill that is going to help you win. |
