California lowball poker, Kansas City lowball poker, triple draw lowball poker games, and London lowball poker are some of the variations of the types of lowball poker. Though there are slight variations in playing approaches in the variants, in all the games the best low card splits the pot.
The wheel or the steel wheel is the best possible combinations that can qualify in the lowball poker. Other qualifying lowball cards are Ace to six, deuce to seven, and six to deuce. Some common variations of lowball poker are:- • Like in most low games Ace is low and straights and flushes do not count against the low, in A-2-3-4-5 games. • In Ace to 6 Ace is low, but straights and flushes play high. • In deuce to 7 Ace is high and straights and flushes are high. • In deuce to 6 Ace is high and straight and flushes are ignored. In California lowball poker joker is used in forming the hand. Players are to compulsorily participate in the first betting round and are not given the option of checking; however, they can do so in the next round. A-2-3-4-5 is the best possible hand in this variant. In Kansas City lowball poker 23457 is the best hand and since straights and flushes count to be high a 23456 does not win. Of all combinations from 2 to 7, the 23457 is the best possible low hand without a straight and so such hands split the pot. The 7s rule is specific to Kansas games according to which, if any player that has checked with 7 or better and had made some raises on the later on, if such a hand wins then the player cannot claim all the raises, he splits only that which was there in the pot when he checked; but, the reverse applies if they loose they tend to loose all that they raised after the check if the hand is beaten Triple draw is another variant where instead of a single draw 3 draw are allowed for replacement. Triple draw can be played for Ace to five or for deuce to seven. The counting of straights and flushes is against in deuce to seven and has no implication in Ace to five in these games. London lowball poker requires the royal 6 the winning like A-2-3-4-6, which is the best possible hand. |
